My name is Chris Gillies, a freelance writer and agricultural journalist based in Sydney. I write about farming, sustainability, technology and business and have work published in Sprout Magazine and World Grain.

Growing up in South West Rocks, on the New South Wales mid north coast, I often shunned the beach for a book, or my horses – I guess this is where my love of writing began. Leaving school I moved into the world of grain trading via Orange Agricultural College where I completed a Bachelor of Rural Business Management.

Swapping the bush for the city in 2002, I started a career in communications and added a Masters of Arts (Journalism) from Charles Sturt University to my qualifications.
